Cool Prizes for RRV Cross Series

We've got some good stuff to be given away at the final RRV cross race. Here's a taste:

1. Beer Primes - still doing a Great Divide 6 pack for winner of first lap, and best crash, road rash, something else at our discretion.
2. Stuff from (among others) J&B, Hudz, Mad Alchemy embro, Crank Bros, Great Divide, Primal, Kona and others.
3. All top 3 winners will get their prizes in a messenger bag
4. Strongly considering giving out a snuggie (the blanket you can wear) to one lucky person

We'll also have a full keg of Great Divide that will be tapped early and often, so don't be shy.

The course will be a bit different, but some of the same features will be included.

Beer primes at RRV Cross Series

So, the good guys at Great Divide Brewing company have given us some help in regards to a little extra motivation during the RRV Cross Series.

We'll be doing beer primes for the winner of the first lap in each race (except maybe not the juniors), and we'll also award beer to one or two guys each race - could be the last place guy on the first lap, maybe best crash, or the guy we deem to be suffering the most. No fakers though.

Plus, we'll have beer around after the race in case you don't win anything.

Directions to RRV Cross Series Venue

Race Location: Tony Grampsas Park in Golden, CO

Address: 4471 Salvia Street, Golden CO 80403

If you know where the Colorado Railroad Museum is in Golden, Salvia Street is just East of there.

From Golden: Take 10th Street East (or East-Northeast) - it turns into W. 44th Ave. Go under Hwy 58, pass the train museum on your left, and the next left turn is Salvia St. Head North on Salvia and it runs right into Tony Grampsas Park.

From Denver: I-70 to W. 44th Ave. Exit and head West. Pass McIntyre St., and about 1/2 mile further is Salvia St - head north on Salvia into the park. If you pass the train museum on your right, you've gone too far.

Or, just mapquest it.

RRV Cyclocross Series - Course Map

Here's the preliminary course map for the first RRV cross race on October 18th. Little bit of everything - fast, hard pack, grass, field grass, twisty-turny, power, up and down.

Two way pit, great viewing from the pavillions area - should be a great venue.

Bart Wellens mega-bike lift

Who doesn't love Bart Wellens? He's a scrapper. Doesn't always look like the smoothest guy out there, but without question he's a freak of nature.

Case in point: this video from the Roubaix WC last season shows Bart coming into the barriers at 88mph like Doc Brown in the Delorean, then does an insane bike port as he's going over the barriers.

Funny to see Wellens with his bike 6 feet in the air, to Boom and Stybar (love that kid!) who follow him with your standard barrier technique, which looks kind of dull in comparison.

Wednesday Cross Rides

It's that time of year - I can already feel a bit of fall in the air. Hopefully we get a bit of moisture this year for cross.

We'll be doing cross rides on Wednesdays at 5:30 - typically we'll ride at Bear Creek State Park. Meet at the Conoco on Morrison Rd. and C-470.
If you carry your bike over barriers like this gentleman, you must attend to do some learnin'.

There might be an audible now and again to go ride another cross course in Golden - contact me if you want to be on the list: clay at apexbackup com.
